METEOR DAY – TEESSIDE UNIVERSITY
On Sunday 13th December the British Steel Archive Project participated in Teesside University’s Festive Fun Day. This was part of the Meteor STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Integrated Education Strategy, funded by One North East.
As Teesside University states, the aim of Meteor is ‘to raise the aspirations of pupils, aged ten and above, by inviting them into the University to take part in a range of activities’. The popular event, now in its ninth year was attended by over 400 children from Primary schools across the Tees Valley.
The BSAP Community Engagement Team offered Bridge-building challenges that competitive children and their equally competitive families (especially the Dads) had a go at constructing from K-Nex!
There was also a ‘Design your own Bridge’ drawing competition. The winner of this was ‘The Zig Zag Transporter’ designed by Siobhan Allison, aged 10 from Skelton Primary School!!! Well Done!!!
